ZIMS for Studbooks Note/Identifier Migration Mapping
Documentation on how note records from SPARKS and PopLink are Mapped in ZIMS for Studbooks after migration.
Notes
In legacy studbook software (SPARKS and PopLink), identifiers and notes were tracked within the notes records. In ZIMS, this information is split into two different boxes.

Identifiers
The migration process uses a simple mapping table to determine if a SPARKS or PopLink note is an identifier. If it is, then that record will map to the identifier grid. All non-identifier note records will map to the note grid in ZIMS.
Identifier records in ZIMS require the user to define the institution that recorded the record. Since this information is not tracked in SPARKS or PopLink, all migrated identifier records will be assigned an institution of “UNDETERMI” – users can manually update the institution after migration.
