Introduction
In the past, users were able to manipulate nearly all their data in the MedARKS system. However, since the introduction of ZIMS some of the data is now managed only by SPECIES360. This is an effort to produce more viable data for globally pooled reporting functionalities such as Physiological References .
It is our best practices advice that you should utilize the SPECIES360 global standard if it exists, so that it is linked to similar entries from other institutions. However, if one does not exist, you in most cases you can create your own entry. If it is a data standard you use frequently (i.e. your primary lab), you can submit a request to support@Species360.org to have it added.
Below you will find how to tell the difference between these entries in a search, links to instructions for how to create your own entries and the data your Support Representative will need to have it added to the global dictionary.
Institutions
Above you will see an example of institution search results. Note that entries that were created by the local institution are denoted by a house icon on the far left.
You can find instructions for creating new institutions here . Please note laboratories are Institution Category “Other” and Institution Type “Laboratory”; Treatment vendors are Category “Other” and Type “Medical Supplier.”
If you would like to have an institution added to the global dictionary. Please email support@Species360.org the following:
Full name of Institution
Web Address
Physical Mailing Address
Terms
Above you will see an example of term search results. Note that entries that were created by the local institution are denoted by a house icon on the far left, whereas SPECIES360 entries have a global with a small SPECIES360 logo.
You can find instructions for creating new terms here .
If you would like to have a term added to the global dictionary. Please email support@Species360.org the following:
Name of Term
Definition of Term
Treatments
Above you will see an example of treatment search results. Note that entries that were created by the local institution are denoted by a house icon on the far left as before, but there are now two different global entry options. The globe with the SPECIES360 logo were added to the dictionary by SPECIES360 directly, whereas the globe without the SPECIES360 logo were added by an SPECIES360 member institution and imported into the database during migration. It is best practices to give preference to the SPECIES360 entered entry before those that are entered by other institutions and globally recognized, as we are slowly cleaning and streamlining the latter.
You can find instructions for creating new treatments here .
If you would like to have a treatment added to the global dictionary. Please email support@Species360.org the following:
Name of Treatment
Link to the product information on the manufacturer’s website
Tests
All tests in ZIMS are globally managed. You can find the requirements for test addition requests outlined here . Some additional advice includes….
If submitting a request for a urine strip sample, please provide pictures of the key on the bottle
If asking for additions/edits of an existing test, please copy/paste the name of test from the dictionary so we have an exact match
