PC Desktop Links to ZIMS Modules

 

From the start menu in ZIMS, grab any icon from the menu and ‘drag and drop’ it to the ZIMS Desktop.

1.      Note when the icon shows a black X it cannot be added as a shortcut
2.      You will see a green check mark when the icon can be added to the desktop
    

Alternatively, you can add a shortcut to an animal’s record.

1.      Inside the animal’s basic info screen, under Actions
2.      Click Make a shortcut on desktop
3.      To remove short cuts, right click and ‘remove’

 

For some features, if you first open a record inside the prohibited module, you can add a link from the “Recent” Start menu list.

(Example: Life Support – Components are not an option to drag and drop to desktop). Under the Recent menu you will see an option to drag that record to the desktop.

 

You can also add links to your ZIMS desktop for Templates

Options include:
Aquarist Daily Log, Husbandry Logs, Animal Lengths, Animal Weights, Environmental Measurements

 

 

 

Link to ZIMS from your PC Desktop

1. To create a desktop shortcut to ZIMS on your PC…
2. Log in to ZIMS https://zims.Species360.org   - then click and drag the tiny symbol to the right of the web address onto your desktop. It might also look like this “lock” icon.
    
3. You will see an icon that says "ZIMS" on your desktop.

4. Right-click on this link, and choose "Save target as" and save this ZIMS icon to your "Documents" folder: download this image to your Documents folder  
5. Right-click on that newly created ZIMS link on your desktop, and choose Properties –
6. On the "Web Document" tab, click the "Change Icon" button:

6. Browse your way to the ZIMS.ico file you saved to your desktop

7. Select the ZIMS icon, then click OK, then click OK again:

8. Confirm the link your PC desktop is directed to ZIMS.

Note, in Step 5 above, you can replace the main ZIMS URL: with the link to your preferred ZIMS Module:
