BATCH SAMPLE SHARING WITH A BIOBANK

When members are contributing samples to the EAZA Biobank, they can turn on sharing so the Biobank can view the sample collection details and save time entering the sample into storage at the Biobank.  Reminder- if a member is recording tests and results in ZIMS then a sample has already been created.   That same sample can be shared with the biobank, no need to create a duplicate.

 

Sharing can be turned on via the medical dashboard one sample at a time.  However, if a user is sharing many samples, we have implemented a batch share option using the collected samples grid in the sample storage module. 

 

To use the batch share, you must first have samples entered in ZIMS Medical , then:

1. Go to the Sample Storage Module and select: “Place samples into storage”
    
2. Use the filters to search samples and view your list , then select those that you want to share with the Biobank, and click the Share Selected Samples menu item:
    
3. Choose the correct institution (remember, you may set your institution preference for a specific institution, such as EAZA Biobank ):
    
4. View external sharing and see that samples have been shared.
