Contact support@Species360.org

If there are animals that you often take weight or length measurements on, you can create a Batch Measurement Template. From the Animal module select Batch Measurements at the top, or go to Start > Tools > Manage Templates. The same screen will appear from either approach.

  1. The Template Name must be unique.
  2. The Creation Date does not affect using the Template. It can be used for a date prior to creation.
  3. Created By is a mandatory field
  4. Measured by is not mandatory but it can save you data entry time as it will default, but can be edited, when the Template is used.
  5. Select the Animals. You can use the magnifying glass lookup to search. Animal Lists are not an option.
  6. Select what Identifiers that you want to display in the Entity column.
  7. Select your Measurements. Remember to Save before adding another one.
  8. If there are multiple Measurements, they can be moved up or down in the list using the Move Down and Move Up arrows so that the Template is in the order that you want. Remember to Save the Template after creation.

The Template will appear in the appropriate list. You can edit, delete or create a desktop shortcut for the Template from the Actions menu. If you have a lot of Templates, you can search for them by Name or Created By. To use the Template, select the Name hyperlink.

  1. You can select a different Template from the drop down menu.
  2. If you had recorded a Measured By staff member when creating the Template it will prefill but it is editable.
  3. The Identifiers selected will display.
  4. Record your measurement. Check the Estimate or Exclude From Norms boxes as needed.
  5. If you need to edit the UOM you can do so.
  6. You do not need to enter data for all animals. You will get a message if you do not but the data you entered will be saved.

You can now use the TAB key on your keyboard to jump to the next blank field. If you have set default values, using the tab button will automatically skip over these fields. If you have not set a default value for one of your fields, the TAB key will still move to that space.
