Adding length measurements to a specimen’s record
Animals->Basic Details->Lengths Grid
To add a length, open the animal records > Lengths grid > Actions > Add New.
1.The Date is mandatory but can be estimated
2.Measurement Time may become important is multiple measurements are taken on the same day
3.Measured By is optional but can be handy if there are any questions on the measurement
4.Measurement Type is a data standard with hover over to describe exctly how the measurement is taken
5.Measurement UOM can be set in Preferences
6.Descriptors are a multiple select drop down to provide further information on what was measured
7.Check Estimate and Exclude from Norms as desired
8.Quality of measurement is a drop down that helps you capture the accuracy of the measurement
9.Tracking the measurement equipment, a free text field can provide valuable information if the equipment may be malfunctioning
10.Details can record further information such as why the measurement was estimated
Once saved the measurement will display in the grid. You can edit/delete only measurements recorded by your institution. When at least one length has been saved, the option to View Length Graph will appear at the top of the grid.
1.You can limit the graph to a specific date range
2.You can change the measurement Type and UOM. Only measurement Types that have been recorded will display for selection
3.You can filter by specific descriptors
4.You can hide any Estimated measurements
5.You can export the graph to Excel or pdf

You can now view last length measurements on your search results in the Animal and Enclosure Searches by customizing your columns .
